What is Image to Text?

Image to text conversion, also known as OCR (Optical Character Recognition), is the process of detecting and extracting readable text from a picture. Instead of retyping text from a screenshot, scanned page, or photo, OCR recognizes the shapes of characters and turns them into text you can select, edit, and copy.

How OCR Works in This Tool

This converter runs entirely in your browser using Tesseract.js, an open-source OCR engine. When you extract text, your device analyzes the image directly — nothing is sent to a server. The engine loads language data, scans the image for character patterns, and reconstructs the text while trying to preserve line breaks.
