How to pick a random number
Enter the smallest and largest number you want, choose how many numbers to draw and press Generate. Use the quick buttons for the most common ranges such as 1–10 and 1–100. Every draw is added to the history list so you can show the result to others.
Ideas for using it
- Giveaways and raffles: number your entries and draw unique winners with repeats turned off.
- Classroom: pick a student number, a page or a question at random.
- Games: replace dice, choose who goes first or roll for loot. For dice with pictures, try the dice roller.
- Decisions: for a yes/no answer use the coin flip, or put options on the spin wheel.
Numbers come from the secure random generator in your browser — the same source used for passwords — and nothing is sent to a server. Need random text instead? See the random string generator and password generator.
Frequently asked questions
Are the numbers truly random?
The generator uses crypto.getRandomValues, the secure random source built into your browser, and removes modulo bias, so every number in the range is equally likely.
Can I generate numbers without repeats?
Yes. Turn off “Allow repeats” and every number in the result will be unique. You cannot ask for more unique numbers than the range contains.
What is the largest range I can use?
Any whole numbers between −1,000,000,000 and 1,000,000,000. You can generate up to 1,000 numbers at a time.
Can I use it for a raffle or giveaway?
Yes. Number your entries, set the range to match and generate one or more unique winners. The history list keeps your last draws visible.
Can I copy the results?
Yes. Press Copy to copy all generated numbers, separated by commas.
Does it work as a lottery number picker?
Yes. For example set 1 to 49, choose 6 numbers, switch off repeats and sort ascending.
